LA PLUME DE DAVID ALEXANDRE LIEBERMANN

The call of the river

My body hurts, my legs are tired,
My breathing feels so hard and slow.
My heavy head is burning hot,
With nowhere left for me to go.

The concrete blocks surround me now,
The smoky cars fill all the air.
The street is loud and full of noise,
Too much for my poor head to bear.

I really need to breathe again,
I need to find a quiet space.
I want to hear my inner voice,
And feel some peace upon my face.

I start a journey far away,
Not knowing where my road will bend.
I only follow my two feet,
Until the path comes to an end.

And when at last I raise my eyes,
I only see the forest green.
I hear my breath and hear the birds,
The sweetest song I have ever seen.

I hear a soft and gentle sound,
I walk toward the shining stream.
The water sings a song of hope,
Just like an angel in a dream.

I step into the river cool,
The water flows around my knees.
It gently touches every toe,
Like moving in a morning breeze.

I let the river take my pain,
Her power makes me feel brand new.
Her cold touch brings me back to life,
Like grass beneath the morning dew.

I look around the trees once more,
The beauty takes away my fear.
It clears the darkness from my mind,
And brings warm love into me here.

I thank the water and the wood,
For giving me a brand-new start.
Now nature walks along with me,
And keeps the calm inside my heart.
